Twenty stalls selling ceramics, fabrics, candles, nifes (small, decorative items), dolls, woodwork, and Canarian knives will be open from January 2nd to 5th.
Dolls, fabrics, clothing, plant fibers, candles, nifes (small, decorative items), patchwork, woodwork, and many other handcrafted items can be found from this Friday until Monday, January 5th, on Avenida de Canarias. The City Council has set up twenty stalls where artisans display their original products, which are popular Christmas gifts each year.
The fair will be open from this Friday until January 5th, from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, although on January 5th it will be open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM. During those days, various events from the Christmas program will also take place on Avenida de Canarias, such as the Grand Children's Party on Sunday, January 4th, starting at 5:00 PM; the Welcome Ceremony of Their Majesties the Three Kings on the same Sunday at 5:30 PM in Plaza de San Rafael; the family show 'Alicia's Afternoon Tea', also on Sunday, January 4th, at 7:00 PM in Plaza de Los Algodoneros; the Three Kings Parade on Monday, January 5th, starting at 6:30 PM; and various concerts on Three Kings' Night.
The mayor of Santa Lucía de Tirajana, Francisco García, and the councilor for Identity, Yaiza Pérez, inaugurated the Christmas Fair this Friday. The mayor encouraged residents to “visit this fair where they can find products made by our artisans, which they can buy directly, giving them the opportunity to give an original gift made with quality and care.” García added that “this is one of the many activities we have planned for this Christmas season, because during these weeks Santa Lucía becomes the commercial capital of the South and Southeast of Gran Canaria.”
Councilor for Identity Yaiza Pérez stated that “we have 20 artisans from our municipality who keep the traditions of our Canarian culture alive with stalls selling cutlery or sewing, to name just a few examples.” Pérez added that “if you are thinking of a special gift for this time of year, there is nothing more special than a handcrafted product because it is unique, original, and cannot be replicated.”
