Tirajana modernizes social centers in southern Gran Canaria with Red Eléctrica

Gara Hernández - M24h Monday, January 05, 2026

San Bartolomé de Tirajana takes a step forward in the modernization of its social infrastructure thanks to the agreement reached with Red Eléctrica de España (REE), which will allow the renewal of the electrical and air conditioning installations in three key social centers of the municipality: Tunte, Cercados de Espino and El Pajar.

The initiative, signed electronically on July 17, 2025, reflects the City Council's commitment to energy efficiency and the well-being of its residents.

The agreement, signed by Mayor Marco Aurelio Pérez and representatives of REE, includes an investment of 35.000 euros by the company, which will be paid in two phases: half at the start of the project and the rest upon completion of the actions, with the corresponding justification of expenses.

The measure is part of the Salto de Chira project, currently underway in the municipality, which seeks to combine energy development and social responsibility.

The renovation of the social centers includes improvements in low voltage electricity and air conditioning, with energy efficiency criteria that optimize consumption and reduce the environmental footprint.

This effort not only strengthens local infrastructure, but also aligns with Red Eléctrica's 2030 sustainability policy, which promotes the creation of shared value through collaboration with projects of social and environmental interest.

The project will have a duration of up to four years, with the possibility of extension for the same period, ensuring that the actions are carried out in a comprehensive and planned manner. Furthermore, the City Council commits to highlighting REE's collaboration in all communications and advertising related to the project, guaranteeing transparency and public recognition of the private contribution to local development.

For residents of southern Gran Canaria, this agreement represents a tangible improvement in the quality of social services and highlights the importance of public-private partnerships for advancing sustainability, energy efficiency, and infrastructure modernization. Tunte, Cercados de Espino, and El Pajar thus become benchmarks within the municipality, demonstrating how planning and corporate commitment can transform community spaces into safer and more comfortable places.
