The events took place in a health center after the doctor refused to issue a report that was not his responsibility.
The professional was threatened with death and suffered blows to the abdomen and shoulder
The emergency service had to be temporarily suspended due to the violence perpetrated against the doctor.
The incident occurred at a local health center when a patient requested an administrative report from the on-call doctor, a document that was not authorized for issuance in the emergency department. Following standard protocol, the doctor explained that she should go to her primary care center in a nearby town.
After receiving this instruction, the woman left the center and reported the situation to two individuals waiting outside. Shortly afterward, both entered the emergency area in a very aggressive manner.
One of them confronted the doctor and demanded the document under threats, while the second, younger and more agitated, even threatened to kill him, claiming to know his personal information and address.
Tension escalated rapidly until the latter physically assaulted the professional, kicking him in the abdomen and punching him in the shoulder. The situation only calmed down when others present warned of the imminent arrival of the security forces, at which point the assailants left the scene.
The swift action of the Investigation Unit allowed the facts to be clarified in a short time. Officers collected statements from the medical staff who witnessed the attack and compiled a detailed description of the perpetrators and their clothing. Thanks to this information, the suspects were located shortly afterward on a nearby street, specifically Balo Street, where they were fully identified and linked to the reported incident.
The proceedings related to this incident have been sent to the Court of Instruction number 1 of Telde.
In addition to the physical and psychological harm suffered by the assaulted healthcare professional, this incident had a serious impact on public services, forcing an interruption of care for approximately 45 minutes. This type of behavior not only jeopardizes the safety of healthcare workers but also that of the entire community by hindering care in emergency situations.
The Civil Guard reminds everyone of the importance of maintaining respect for the professionals who serve the public and reaffirms its commitment to protecting those who carry out their work in essential environments such as healthcare.
