The detainee, with a long criminal record, admitted to starting the fire at the behest of a third party.
Five people, including a minor, were evacuated as a precaution during the incident
The Civil Guard of the Main Post of Vecindario has arrested a man as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of damage by fire in a private vehicle.
The incident occurred in the early hours of October 25th, when a fire was detected in a car parked on a street in the town. Public safety patrols immediately responded to the scene, and their swift intervention proved crucial, as the flames were spreading rapidly and it was necessary to evacuate five people, including a minor, as a precaution.
Once the area was secured, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire, which completely destroyed the affected vehicle, damaged another nearby car, and also affected the facades of several adjacent buildings.
From that moment on, the Investigation Unit of the Vecindario Main Police Station began a thorough investigation to clarify what had happened. Analysis of the security camera footage allowed them to identify the suspect, who was arrested on December 19.
During his statement, the detainee admitted to having committed the fire on the orders of a third party, receiving as payment one hundred euros and five grams of cocaine.
The proceedings were placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction number 1 of San Bartolomé de Tirajana.
