A man died on Sunday, January 11, 2026, after being rescued from the sea with signs of drowning at San Agustín beach, in the municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, as reported by the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2.
The incident occurred around 17:00 p.m., when emergency services (112) received a call reporting that a person had been pulled unconscious from the water and was receiving CPR. The Emergency Coordination Center (CECOES) immediately activated the necessary emergency resources, and lifeguards from the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Beach Rescue Service, along with a medical ambulance and a basic life support ambulance from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the SUC medical staff found that the affected person was in cardiorespiratory arrest and continued to perform advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, although they could ultimately only confirm his death.
The National Police took charge of the body until the arrival of the judicial authority and the corresponding proceedings, while the Local Police and Rescue personnel collaborated with the rest of the emergency resources in the operation.
