Alejandro Marichal: “The seafront promenade, which will be built by the Maspalomas Consortium, will improve this meeting point and symbol of identity for the neighborhood.”

Davinia Ramírez: “The design incorporates the complete renovation of the promenade's pavement, improves accessibility and the connection between El Pajar and Santa Águeda, as well as the creation of new spaces and areas for family leisure.”

The San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council, through the Department of Urban Planning, has granted the building permit that allows the Maspalomas Gran Canaria Rehabilitation Consortium to carry out the comprehensive renovation project of the El Pajar–Santa Águeda seafront promenade, thus responding to a neighborhood demand that had been pending for years.

The renovation will be financed with funds from the Consortium itself, made up of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council and the Gran Canaria Island Council, which allocate specific resources for the improvement and rehabilitation of strategic tourist infrastructures.

The authorized project is the Remodeling of the Santa Águeda Beach Promenade, whose technical plan defines a comprehensive intervention on the El Pajar coastline. The scope of the project includes the existing promenade, the connection to the coast, and the beach access points.

As explained by the Councilor for Urban Planning, Davinia Ramírez, the design incorporates a complete renovation of the promenade's pavement, improved accessibility and pedestrian connection between El Pajar and Santa Águeda, the installation of new street furniture, the renovation of green areas, improvements to the surface drainage system, and the creation of new rest areas and family recreation spaces. The project plans reflect the new layout of green areas, pedestrian routes, lighting, drainage, and construction sections that completely modernize the current seafront.

With this permit, the Urban Planning Department has unlocked a project long requested by the residents of El Pajar, who have been demanding the modernization of their seafront promenade for years, as it has deteriorated due to use and the passage of time. First Deputy Mayor Alejandro Marichal emphasized that the residents of El Pajar have been waiting for this moment for many years, as “it is not just an infrastructure project: it is a meeting point, a symbol of identity, and a vital part of life for the neighborhood. The rehabilitation of the Santa Águeda development and now this seafront promenade allow us to take a leap forward and recover a waterfront that has enormous value for those who live here.”

Once the license is granted, the Maspalomas Rehabilitation Consortium will begin the necessary administrative procedures to initiate the contracting and subsequent execution of the project. With this step, the project moves into its operational phase and approaches the actual start of construction.
