Travel agents and tour operators are betting on Gran Canaria as an active destination in the Estonian market

The study trip introduced the invited group to the active, sporting and wellness offerings of Gran Canaria.

 

Product associations collaborated with Gran Canaria Tourism and airBaltic to organize a familiarization trip to Gran Canaria. The program included the participation of airBaltic's Commercial Director and representatives from leading travel agencies and tour operators in the Estonian market, such as Airtours Estonia, Reisiekspert, ITAKA Estonia, Estravel, and ABC Reisid.

 

The aim of the familiarization trip was to discover firsthand the outdoor experiences that can be enjoyed on the island year-round. The invited group showed particular interest in sports, active pursuits, and wellness activities.

For part of their stay, the participants were accommodated in Sport Hotel Monte Feliz – powered by PlayitasThis hotel, specializing in sports tourism and associated with Gran Canaria Tri, Bike & RunThe hotel welcomed guests with a program packed with physical activities. Functional training sessions, stretching, and Pilates were tailored to each guest's fitness level, allowing travelers to stay active throughout their stay.

Thanks to this association, a guided tour was organized through I'm Pedal by electric bike. The route, lasting a few hours and adapted to the group, passed through some of the enclaves in the south of the island and served as an alternative way to explore Gran Canaria from a different perspective. The e-bike rental was also arranged with Banana Bike Canarias, a Canary Islands company that includes transport and collection of the material at the reception of the accommodation hotel.

Nature, crafts and holistic experiences

 

The island, endowed with natural havens and iconic landscapes, also boasts a wide range of active and nature tourism options. Within this sector, local and artisanal products are a hallmark of Gran Canaria, and the representatives experienced their essence firsthand at Ana's JairaIn addition to touring the farm, the group participated in a workshop on making artisanal cheeses with milk from their goats and a tasting of products.

This company is part of the brand Gran Canaria Natural & Active, as well as the natural environment of their next activity in Finca Las Orillas & Sana DharmaThis oasis in the south of the island offers holistic and mindful experiences, including the Dharma Aquahealing aquatic therapy in which they immersed themselves.

In line with the wellness approach, the following proposal came from the association Gran Canaria Spa, Wellness & HealthThe thalassotherapy center of Gloria Palace San Agustin Thalasso & Hotel It served as a health sanctuary thanks to its seawater fitness pool. After a regenerative session, they went up to the Gorbea Chill Out Terrace to enjoy brunch overlooking the Maspalomas Dunes.

This familiarization trip is expected to boost the tourist and experiential appeal of Gran Canaria in Estonia, as well as strengthen connectivity between airBaltic and the destination.
