The Fire and Rescue Service of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council has added 11 new firefighters and promoted 7 members to the rank of corporal, bringing its total staff to 33.
The Fire and Rescue Service (SEIS) of the San Bartolomé de Tirajana City Council held today the swearing-in ceremony of 11 new firefighters as trainee civil servants, as well as the internal promotion of 7 officers to the rank of corporal, a milestone that represents a decisive step forward in strengthening the municipal service.
With these additions and promotions, the Fire Service goes from having 22 to 33 personnel, which represents a very significant increase in its operational capacity and response to emergencies, reinforcing the safety and protection of citizens throughout the municipality.
Strengthening the workforce and improving the service
The addition of 11 new firefighters allows for decisive progress in the City Council's strategic objective of strengthening the SEIS, improving service coverage, response times and the capacity to intervene in fires, rescues, urban and forest emergencies.
This reinforcement of personnel constitutes one of the most relevant advances in recent years in terms of human resources of the municipal Fire Service, aligned with the commitment to modernization and reinforcement of essential services.
Boost to internal promotion and operational structure
The promotion of 7 firefighters to the rank of corporal reflects the City Council's clear commitment to career development within the SEIS, recognizing the experience, training and leadership skills of the service's personnel.
This internal promotion process allows for the consolidation of a more solid, efficient, and hierarchical operational structure, strengthening middle management and improving coordination and effectiveness in emergency management.

Progress in equality and female representation
Among the 11 new members are 3 women, who are joining the municipal Fire Service, marking a milestone in the evolution of the corps.
Currently, the San Bartolomé de Tirajana Fire and Rescue Service (SEIS) has 3 women out of a total of 33 personnel, representing approximately 9% female representation. This percentage places the SEIS at the forefront of the Canary Islands Autonomous Community in terms of female representation, especially considering that, until this selection process, there were no women in the service.
Its incorporation represents a significant step forward in terms of equality, diversity and representation, consolidating SEIS as a modern, open service aligned with the values of equal opportunities in the field of public service.
