A 48-year-old man was injured after falling on a difficult-to-access dirt path, requiring the intervention of the Emergency and Rescue Group helicopter for his air evacuation.
At 12:50 on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of the Government of the Canary Islands received an alert reporting the fall of a cyclist on a dirt path located between Balito and Puerto Rico, in the municipality of Mogán, a complex access point that made it difficult to reach by land.
Following the immediate activation of emergency resources, the GES helicopter located the injured man, rescued him, and evacuated him to the El Berriel helipad, where he was attended to by medical personnel from the Canary Islands Emergency Service. The man presented with a moderate wrist injury and was transferred by basic life support ambulance to the San Roque Maspalomas University Hospital.
The operation involved the GES rescue helicopter, firefighters from the Gran Canaria Emergency Consortium, an ambulance from the SUC, Civil Protection, Local Police and Civil Guard, coordinated from the CECOES 1-1-2 to ensure a quick and safe response in a difficult-to-access area.
