The restoration work on the various architectural elements of the Maspalomas Lighthouse's exterior has been completed, culminating an intervention focused on the respectful conservation of the monument and the protection of its original materials. The project was carried out under the principle of minimal intervention, a fundamental premise in work on heritage assets, which prioritized the restoration and repair of only those pieces whose deterioration posed a risk to the lighthouse's preservation. In this way, the preservation of the historic structure has been guaranteed without altering its identity or architectural value.
The project had an allocated budget of 106.221,68 euros and was financed 24,5% by the Gran Canaria Island Council, within its line of support for the conservation of the island's historical and cultural heritage.
With this intervention, the Maspalomas Lighthouse —one of the most recognizable symbols of southern Gran Canaria— reinforces its state of conservation and its projection as a key element of the cultural and tourist landscape of the municipality, ensuring its protection for the coming decades.
