Maspalomas24H ethics guidelines
The economics of online media have made it challenging for some outlets to preserve editorial independence from commercial pressures. Here is a summary of Maspalomas24H's business model and the measures it takes to maintain its integrity:
Maspalomas24H is an independent and privately owned media whose majority owner is Julián Reyes, the executive director.
It obtains its main income from the companies that advertise on the Maspalomas24H website.
It does not accept payments of any kind in exchange for coverage.
It has no shareholders, investors or other financial sponsors other than MasEventos Comunicación.
It does not adjust its editorial content to the wishes of advertisers, nor does it avoid covering topics that may be sensitive to advertisers.
In addition, Maspalomas24H journalists:
They are governed by a strict conflict of interest policy in personal financial activity.
They have no involvement in the creation of advertising content.
They do not accept paid trips or gifts (greater than a nominal value) that could influence your coverage. The only exception to this rule is for travel coverage, when the trip itself is being reviewed and it would be too expensive for us to cover otherwise. In such cases, the fact that the trip was paid for will be disclosed on the same page as the coverage.
